New Chief Executive Officer of MANITOU
In their meeting which took place on June 2, 2009 the Supervisory Board presided over by Mr. Marcel Braud decided to appoint Mr. Jean-Christophe Giroux as Chief Executive Officer replacing Mr. Marcel Claude Braud. This change is the result of a reflection of several months the necessity of which is emphasised by the events which took place at the end of 2008; the contraction of the orderbook on a world-level, the acquisition of GEHL in the United States, the urge for a clear and efficient organisation, call for a management both global and reactive at the Head of the Group, allowing MANITOU to better adapt to its new environment and to consolidate its leadership. This decision, which mirrors the wish of the founding Family to concentrate on the governance of the company, as well as on its strategy, will be coupled with a return to a legal structure based on a Board of Directors, both simpler and more efficient on a operational point of view. This new organisation-scheme in which Mr. Marcel Braud will become non-executive Chairman of the Board and Mr. Jean-Christophe Giroux will continue as the Chief Executive Officer, will be submitted –after all legal details have been finalised– to the approbation of an Extraordinary General Assembly of MANITOU shareholders which will be called in autumn. Jean-Christophe Giroux has been since 1997 with ALCATEL-LUCENT, where he was until recently Chairman & CEO of ALCATEL-LUCENT France, and Chief Operating Officer for the Europe & South region (2006-2008). Previously Jean-Christophe Giroux has been President, Enterprise Solutions Division (2003-2006), Chairman & CEO of ALCATEL Optronics (2000-2003) which he took public on the Paris and Nasdaq stock exchanges as the first European tracking stock. Jean-Christophe Giroux joined ALCATEL in 1997 as Vice President, Financial Operations, in charge or Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions.Prior to that, Jean-Christophe Giroux has been working in investment banking with LAZARD (1991-1997) and in auditing with MAZARS & GUERARD (1989-1991). Jean-Christophe Giroux holds a Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) degree.

DAKAR 2009 ARGENTINA - CHILE
For the first time the 2009 Dakar took place in Chile and in Argentina. The route of the 2009 Dakar crossed through the 2 countries to make a 9 754 km loop, a round-trip from Buenos Aires through the desert of Atacama, Valparaiso and the Andes Cordillera. In Copiapo (Chile) on Jan 12th and 13th our dealer SKC, through the rental company SK Rental, was there to assist the competitors with 2 MT 732 (see picture).
Proud of this success, the 2 countries have decided to renew the organization of the 2010 rallye in Latin America and Manitou will be there again for this new adventure and to support the future competitors.
MANITOU SETS OUT TO CONQUER BRAZIL
Manitou takes part in the M&T Expo trade show in Sao Paulo from 02-06/06/09 jointly with Bilden, its dealer in Brazil. M&T is the main trade show in Latin America for construction and mining equipment and takes place every 3 years. The trade show should gather 350 exhibitors, 500 brands, from more than 25 countries and is expected to host 42000 Brazilian and foreign visitors in 2009. Manitou will show on its booth the MT and MRT products as well as a Mustang skid steer loader.
A RECORD YEAR FOR THE BAUMAMASCHINEN EXHIBITION 2009
The biggest construction exhibition in Switzerland took place for the 4th time in Bern from 17-22/03/09.
In 2000 the Baumaschinenmesse Bern hosted more than 18 000 visitors, 21 500 in 2005 and in 2009 we once more had a record number of visitors (+ 22% compared to 2005), more than 235 exhibitors on an exhibition area of 77 000 square meters.
For this show which is the meeting place for the construction sector, Manitou exhibited for the 1st time a 100 VJR Evolution platform and other machines widely used in the construction sector (MRT 2150, MT 1440 A, MLT 1035), other platforms (78 XE, 120 AETJC 3D, 180 ATJ) and an industrial forklift truck CD 35P.
ATHENS 20-23/03/09 : 5th INTERNATIONAL «METEC – CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY » EXHIBITION
The 5th international METEC exhibition in Athens, Greece was organized this year in a new exhibition centre (Metropolitian Expo), a stone’s throw from the international airport ‘Eleftherios Venizelos’ This doubled the exhibition area compared to the previous years and enabled the show to attract more than 20 000 visitors from Greece, Cyprus and abroad. 160 visitors gathered on 4 exhibitions halls.
Our dealer Apostolopoulos took this opportunity to also double its exhibition area with a 600 m2 booth on which they presented a Manihoe (MLB 625), industrial thermic forklift trucks (CD 35 P), a platform 100 XEL and an MT 1440 as well as 10 Mustang skid steers.

KOMATEK CONSTRUCTION FAIR – ANKARA 05-10/05/09
The Komatek trade show, specialized in construction equipment, takes place every 2 years in Ankara with an exceptional number of visitors for 10 years. This year our dealer Maats in Turkey exhibited on a booth more than 700 m2. Under the Turkish sun our telehandlers, MRT 2540, MRT 2150, MT 1840, MT 1440, MT 1436, MT 1235, MT 1030S, MT 731 and platforms, 120 AETJ, 150 AETJ, and 160 ATJ, an industrial truck, CD 30 P and a Manihoe (MLB 625) formed a guard of honour for our visitors.
